The final section that we went through was the "Canadian Wilds" section at the Calgary Zoo. And now that I'm done adding descriptions and labels to all my zoo pictures I have a small beef to air.

The website for the Calgary Zoo is www.calgaryzoo.com/index.php and it isn't a bad website. However, the zoo is broken down into rough sections that do not line up nicely with specific builds in all cases. These means that things like the Flamingos which are right on the main path are listed in the Eurasia section, which is mostly another building which was known to me as 'the Monkey house.' I would really love to see the zoo update their map online with a enclosure by enclosure listing of what animals are usually found there. I completely understand why they do not. The Calgary zoo uses a fairly open enclosure system with multiple species in each as often as they can. This gives a more natural feel to the space and doesn't cause any harm to the animals. They also watch closely and when an issue does come up they move to correct it quickly. Things like the Casowary named Buddy who was picking on the Emo's was moved to a different enclosure, for example. Updating the website to keep on top of such changes would be so far down their list of worries as to be almost missing completely.

It does mean that when I have almost 700 images (before deleting the blurred and so on) I'm struggling to remember which bird this is. And then when I see that the zone that I'm looking at doesn't list birds at all I'm really at a loss as to say just what it was I took a picture of.

Each time I return from the Zoo I encounter this problem. And each time I tell myself just to take pictures of their labels on the enclosures themselves.
And each time I get maybe six or seven such pictures.
